From Sean Joseph Patrick Carney’s #Drugs, “Prologue,” page 5: “So, I honestly like drugs a lot, ergo, I am a good writer. About drugs.” Also currently loving Carney’s “Project Ideas,” featured in A Practical Guide to Making Socially Irresponsible Work. From page 19: “Appoint yourself the recipient of a live/work residency that will investigate the paradox of artists being the first wave in the process of gentrification. Move to North Portland (like, up past Rosa Parks).” -WE

A reading from Sean Joseph Patrick Carney’s zine: Social Malpractice: A Practical Guide to Making Socially Irresponsible Work

(My roommate came into the apartment during this and fucked up my cadence somewhere in the middle.)

THIS JUST POPPED UP ON OUR GOOGLE ALERTS. WHO IS THIS CHAP?

This is the Mars Volta at possibly their most bloated and absurd, but this song is kicking us along in the studio today.

Last night, in a conversation with my Dad and Dan about art, I said, “I feel like, and I know this is a jerk thing to say, but I feel like I’ve seen all the Monets.”

Pictures from the PS exhibition in Bordeaux: the French have so much fun with books (pineapple! undressing!) and we’re so jealous of their chalkboard. Thank you Ailsa for the photographs.

GAWD DAMN. WE NEED A FRENCH OUTPOST.

James Franco is FUCKING JAMES FRANCO

AC/DC MONEY TALKS DOLLAR SIGNED BY ANGUS YOUNG TO ME  SAN FRANCISCO 1991
In an earlier blog post I talked about AC/DC and the time I met Angus Young. I wanted to post a photo of this one other piece of memorabilia I own from that meeting. My AC/DC dollar. These dollars rained down on the crowd from the ceiling during the climax of the song “Money Talks”. Like thousands of other fans, I grabbed a fistful of these from the air as they swirled around me. I would picked more of them up off the floor but the crowd was packed so tightly, I doubt any of them made it down that far. I gave all my extra bills to friends of mine who’d appreciate them. I kept this one however because it’s the one signed to me from Angus.
Angus Young has always been at the top of my pantheon of Rock-N-Roll heroes. If you don’t get it, or think I could do better than him I’d suggest you watch this one video from Youtube and then explain to me how some other guitarist in some other band is better. I would sincerely like to hear that band!
